Google wants to deploy hundreds of satellites

There is much talk about internet from space, or say by satellite, since Google announced plans to deploy hundreds of satellites worth 1b$ to provide fast internet access to uncovered areas.

Many research focuses on the internet from space already: what telecommunication protocols, how should we adapt the internet, etc…

In particular, a Japanese team from Iwate Medical University has demonstrated the feasibility of ultra-fast internet for use in telepathology, this new discipline that allows pathologists to work together remotely to enhance the level of expertise and quality diagnostics. A nice way to show the use of fast internet from space to reduce geographic disparities in quality of care.
